AIR COOLER, FAN OR TOWER FAN? LEARN WHICH ONE BEST SUITS YOUR NEEDS

AIR COOLER, FAN OR TOWER FAN? LEARN WHICH ONE BEST SUITS YOUR NEEDS

Air coolers and fans both serve a common purpose of cooling, however, they all have different mechanisms that result in a difference in efficiency and therefore choosing the right appliance may vary depending on the intended usage and user preference. An air cooler uses the scientific principle of evaporative cooling, where hot air is made to pass through a wet medium inside the cooler, this results in cooler and moisturized air. A powerful fan then propels this cool air into the room or outdoor area and the outcome is a constant flow of fresh, moisturized air that provides a cooling effect similar to the effect of rubbing cold water on your skin on a hot day.

A stand fan or pedestal fan, on the other hand, is an arrangement of an impeller and blades. Unlike the air cooler that requires water, the fan works by simply circulating the air around us rapidly, speeding up the evaporation of the sweat on our bodies, thereby, providing a cooling effect.

A tower fan is simply a more advance form of fan, it is a tall, tower-shaped appliance that is stationed on a rotating base, containing impeller blades and an air blower. A tiny inlet at the side of the tower fan casing allows air to get drawn in. It blows out air at a 90-degree angle which when combined with the height of the fan, contributes to a wider coverage area in circulating the cool air. Most tower fans also come with a basic dust filter as well to allow for cleaner air circulation.

The tower-like structure houses a cylindrical container with an impeller. The blades of this impeller set the air in motion within the cylindrical structure and then pushes it towards the vents of the fan, where the air blower moves the air through a vertical shaft. Then this air travels to the air guide from where the airflow heads towards the exit vent. Finally, the air is pushed out from the air blower and is evenly distributed throughout the room.

Air Cooler Vs Pedestal Fan

Between these two options, it is quite obvious that an air cooler provides much better cooling than a regular fan or tower fan because it actually releases cool air from the water placed inside. Unlike a fan that just circulates air around. Also, while a fan covers a limited area of the room and also allows for and easy way of directing air flow to one particular direction, an air cooler uniformly distributes the cool air all over the room. The pedestal fan however, will cost you less money as opposed to an air cooler and it also consumes 35% less energy than an air cooler. This is mainly due to the fact that an air cooler uses an additional motor for water circulation.

Air Cooler Vs Tower Fan

Comparing an Air Cooler and a Tower Fan, both products have their own advantages. First, tower fans are designed in such a way that they do not produce any sound or noise whatsoever, contrary to this, an air cooler will produce some noise, especially when set on maximum speed. Tower fans with their tall, tower-like design also provide for much better airflow. They stand on a circulating base allowing them to distribute the air evenly throughout the room at a 90-degree angle. Also, they looks stylish and attractive. The Air cooler however is better suited for warmer temperatures as it allows for cool air, with some air coolers providing a heating option that proves very useful in winter.

Tower Fan Vs Pedestal Fan

A tower Fan is quite similar to a stand fan, the difference comes down to the design and aesthetics. The Tower fan can oscillate for a more even distribution of air and they can also have dust filters too for cleaner air circulation. They operate quietly and their stylish look make for a great appliance for your home or office. The stand or pedestal fan however, has its own set of advantages. The good thing about pedestal fans is that you are able to control the direction and height of the airflow much better than you can with tower fans, they have a simple adjusting knob that allows you to control the direction of the airflow and set it to a desired direction. It must also be noted that due to the larger blades, the pedestal fans are much more powerful generally than tower fans which makes them much more useful in larger spaces.

Which Option Best Suits You?

It is clear that the air cooler is the most effective in terms of cooling, however both stand and pedestal fans provide some valid reasons as to why you should consider buying one. The air coolers are generally higher priced than the latter options and the need to refill water for constant cooling may be downside to some people. The fans however are a great budget option and definitely get the job done, nonetheless. Now that you have an insight on how these three appliances operate, we hope to give you an easier decision on which appliance best suits you.
